For over four years, On Deck has been a safe space for talented people to explore “what’s next” among a highly curated community of peers.
But starting something new doesn’t always have to mean starting a company.
Authors, essayists, bloggers, and newsletter writers are micro-entrepreneurs. Beyond just producing great writing, they have to find their niche, market to readers, and figure out how to grow towards their goals, whether generating revenue, building an audience, establishing expertise, or just honing their craft.
But establishing a regular writing cadence and building an audience are hard. They’re strengthened by regular support & accountability.
Building an audience and earning the respect of your readers can be a wedge into building a community. Building a community can be a wedge into starting an amazing business.
ODW is an eight-week program inspired by the success of the On Deck Fellowship.
We’ll help groups of 100-200 writers find their way towards having a successful writing practice, and connect them with a lifelong community of other writers and peers, alongside On Deck Founder (ODF) and Angel (ODA) Fellowships. We’ll help with finding your niche, accountability, editing, and distribution—everything writers need to grow their audience and improve their craft.
Participants will have access to:
- Fireside chats and small group breakouts with world-class writers
- Writing workshops with peers of similar skill-level and desired cadence
- 1:1 support for editing, distribution, and ideation with experts from the ODW team
We’re excited to partner with Substack to power On Deck Writers.
Substack believes that writers, bloggers, thinkers, and creatives of every background should be able to pursue their curiosity, generating income directly from their own audiences and on their own terms.
We couldn’t agree more.
