FAQ

Who should apply?

To be a good fit for On Deck Scale, you are probably

  • A highly motivated founder of a venture-scale company who would benefit from the authentic relationships forged with other growth-oriented founders.
  • Open to seeking the support, coaching, and mentorship required to scale yourself and your company.
  • Willing to share your experiences, challenge assumptions, expand your perspectives, and raise the bar for yourself and others .
  • Committed to lifelong learning and a spirit of service to others.
What does it cost?

The cost of On Deck Scale  is $10,000 or 6 installments of $1,990.

What is the time commitment? Will this be a distraction?

You should plan to invest 2-3 hours per week in On Deck Scale. The curriculum is designed to help you leverage time, networks, and resources to your exponential advantage. It’s our intention that one unit invested will yield many in return.

What if I'm too early? What if I'm too late?

We are committed to identifying and supporting the very best founders at every stage of company growth from Seed to IPO. We’ll group founders appropriately based on company stage and other relevant factors. Founders who have not raised capital should consider applying to the On Deck Fellowship.

Are there minimum capital or revenue requirements to apply?

We’re accepting applications from founders of seed stage companies to IPO. Seed stage founders must have raised at least $1.5M in the last six months or achieved $100k MRR run rate.

If I’m already well-connected in the startup ecosystem, do I need this?

We certainly believe so. ODS will benefit any founder committed to significant learning and personal growth, expanding their network and personal influence, and becoming a better leader. While the On Deck network is large and continually expanding, On Deck Scale is designed to help you scale yourself as fast as you’re scaling your company.

Is this a fully remote program?

Yes: ODS will be run entirely remotely. This enables participation from all corners of the world. We’ve spent the past few ODF cohorts mastering the playbook for building remote communities and relationship building online, and will apply the same approach here.

Post-COVID, we’ll return to organizing offline programming like dinners, small gatherings, and retreats, but the core Fellowship will remain a remote-first experience.

What if I'm based outside the US?

We are accepting Fellows from around the world.

For this first cohort, the majority of sessions will be in North American time zones, but recordings will available to Fellows at any time.  There will be additional content specifically designed for Fellows based in Europe.

Fellows from Asia are welcome to join, but we expect to have fewer sessions in local time zones for the first cohort of ODS.

Can non-founding CEOs apply?

Not yet – At this time we’re keeping focused on company founders.

Can founders who are not CEOs apply?

Yes – As long as you are the founder of a venture-scale company.

What are the Guiding Values of On Deck?

On Deck lives by four core guiding values, crucial to the culture we strive to foster in the community:

  • Service: On Deck is bigger than any one person. For this community to thrive, it must be driven by a spirit of service to others. Be generous with your time, knowledge, and support. Karma has a way of finding its way back.
  • Sacredness: By default, everything is off the record. Many in this group are searching for something deeper in their lives or making big transitions, and others may not yet have publicly shared this with friends, family, or employers. Please honor that, and avoid sharing anything you learn about each other without explicit permission.
  • Respect: You are all now part of the On Deck family. You’re all embarking on what will surely be a rollercoaster of a journey — but you’re in this shared experience together. With that comes a sense of responsibility: be inclusive, stick together, and respect one another.
  • Gratitude: have a spirit of curiosity and gratitude. We’re bringing together a group of fascinating people, most of whom likely have never met each other…how amazing is that? Get to know each other, and make the cohort what you want it to be for yourself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the goal of the On Deck Angel Fellowship?

But helping founders is just half of the equation. If a startup chooses to raise capital, who they raise from can have an incredible impact on its trajectory in the early days.

Founders love raising from other founders and experienced operators. They’ve been there before, have great advice, networks, and know their markets better than anyone else. If we’re trying to 10x the number of world-class founders, it stands to reason we should help grow the number of top investors who will back them early, as well.
