So far I’ve been in @beondeck slack for two days and raised $20,000. The program doesn’t even kick-off until tomorrow. If this doesn’t convince you to join, idk what will. #beondeck #odf6

Crystal Chan

@beondeck for me has been friends, confidants, experts, and advisors all bundled in one amazing community of people.

It’s the vibe of childhood play groups, late night talks, college discussions, weekend hackathons, and so much more.

No better way to step into 2021.

Brett Goldstein

Since starting @beondeck, I've been happier and more creatively fulfilled than at any other point in my career (my mood tracking data shows it).

This community is magic. Momentum is a hell of a drug.

My DMs are open if you're thinking about applying!

Louis Pereira

The @beondeck Writer Fellowship was so good that I needed a second helping.

Thrilled to be joining their #NoCode fellowship next month.

It's time to build!

Nick Singh

On Deck helped me realize that writing was a viable career. As a Software Engineer in SV, thought founding a tech startup was the only path. Then ODF1 happened.

12 months later, and I got a book on the way & a newsletter with 44k subscribers. Big fans of @david__booth & team!

Hugo Amsellem

I wanted to write again and @BeOnDeck launched the Writer Fellowship.

Then I wanted to start a podcast and they announced the Podcast Fellowship.

Now I'm thinking about becoming a YouTuber...

TAKE MY MONEY.

Matt Alston

The two best decisions I made in 2020 were leaving my job to start a company with @MelissaZhang13, and joining @beondeck.

Pretty wild how much On Deck has grown and evolved in just the last 6 months. Can’t event imagine what it’ll look like a year from now 🚀

Arwina Mogul

I have this theory that if I joined @beondeck sooner, I would've avoided many early-stage founder mistakes. I implore any early-stage founder to check out the fellowship. It will extend your financial, emotional, and mental runway.

Griff Foxley

Said it before, will say it again. On Deck Writers Fellowship continues to be a profound learning community of electric content and collaboration. Can't recommend enough.

Wallace Torres

My On Deck journey:

- A community of incredible entrepreneurs all who can switch between emotional support and strategic guidance depending on what you need that moment

- What LinkedIn is supposed to be

- Exposure to lots of company building perspectives

Can’t recommend enough.

Jackie Hyland

Yesterday was the last day of @beondeck cohort #4. I'm feeling so many things, but the main one is gratitude. I spent 10 weeks with some incredible humans who I feel are lifelong friends and collaborators.

Griff Foxley

Will @beondeck please just right now setup an annual pass type thing so I can just be apart of every damn thing they offer?

Alexander Hugh Sam

Just finished the @beondeck kick-off session for ODW1 and 🤯.

It's the most fun I've ever had for any onboarding whatsoever. The team and fellows are amazing and can't wait to get started.

Even did some (very bad) freestyle rapping and met cool people like @AnthonyMcG2!

Jacob Peters

Thanks to @beondeck I got reconnected with @FranklinBi last night from our days at @jpmorgan.

Seriously such an incredible community – serendipity and genuine connection without any transactional feeling. Highly recommend to anyone with a startup itch.

Max Greenwald

Masterclass in launching & iterating: @eriktorenberg, @david__booth, @btaleisnik and the @beondeck crew.

Something wild being announced every week it seems. Incredibly hard to launch & iterate on community too. By doing it with humbleness and transparency they are crushing it.

FAQ

Who should apply?

To be a good fit for OD50, you are probably:

* An outstanding performer in your respective industry / job function
* Mentally ready for your next role, whether or not you currently have a job!
* Entrepreneurial, with a desire to help build an early-stage startup.
* Eager to be an active participant in a growing community, as much of the value of On Deck comes from the network and peer-to-peer connections.

What if I still work full time? Will my manager find out?

All sessions, content, and interactions are completely off the record, including any acknowledgement of a Fellow’s participation. Some OD50 Fellows will choose to be public about their involvement, while many more will not, especially those who are currently employed full time.

Everyone in the program is searching for something deeper in their next career chapter and making a big transition.  Many will not yet have publicly shared this journey with friends, family, or employers. We and all Fellows will honor that.

Also note that speaker sessions are recorded, which is beneficial from a scheduling perspective, but also important for a Fellow who happens to know a presenter.

Can I apply if I'm non-technical?

Yes!  OD50 is for people joining early-stage startups, regardless of role.  There will be engineers, data scientists, and product managers alongside growth, sales, marketing, HR, and operations folks since all of these roles are essential to turning a startup’s idea into reality.

Fellows targeting similar roles will be paired so that they can share insights, suggestions, and potential connections to help each other through their respective journeys.

What if I’ve never worked at a startup before?

No problem! OD50 is broadly designed for two groups of people, with content specifically created for each:

* Fellows trying to pivot their career into startups.
* Fellows already working in tech who want to be intentional about the next steps on their career path.

If I’m already well-connected in the startup ecosystem, why do I need this?

The opportunity cost of choosing the wrong startup is huge.  Surround yourself with a community of experts and peers to help you make an informed decision on what’s next, and get access to roles sourced from the On Deck community.

What does it cost?

Joining the On Deck First 50 Fellowship is $1,990.

For this first inaugural cohort, we’re offering the program at an early-bird rate of $1,990, with the cost rising for subsequent cohorts.

Do you have scholarships available?

Yes! Our goal is to make the Fellowship accessible to the absolute best talent, no matter what their situation.

While many eligible applicants do have the means to support themselves, many others don’t. We’re excited to be able to offer scholarships to join the Fellowship through the On Deck Access Fund.

There are no fees to apply so please submit an application to be considered for the fellowship — you’ll have the option to request financial assistance if you receive an offer to join OD50.

What is the time commitment?

The power of this program is in the community, and like any community you get back what you put in. OD50  is designed for people committing to spend at least several hours per week on their job search, some of which will be engagement with OD50.

Is this a fully remote program?

Yes: OD50 will be run entirely remotely. This enables participation from all corners of the world. We’ve spent the past few ODF cohorts mastering the playbook for building remote communities and relationship building online, and will apply the same approach here.

Post-COVID, we’ll return to organizing offline programming like dinners, small gatherings, and retreats, but the core Fellowship will remain a remote-first experience.

What are the demographics of the Fellowship?

We’re aiming to build a cohort that is diverse across race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality, national origin, professional background, age, viewpoint, and subject matter—you name it!

Since this is the first cohort of OD50, we don’t yet have specific demographics for this program, but we released a demographic breakdown for ODF5 that can serve as a useful comparison.

What are the Guiding Values of On Deck?

You can view our values here, but to summarize: Service, Sacredness, Respect, and Gratitude.

Did we miss your question? Drop us a line and we will get back to you asap.
